Vertica required a solution that could help with their primary email challenges. These challenges included the need to access crucial communication stored only in the Exchange system and to reduce the amount of storage that was held on Exchange.  The mailboxes were creating an ever increasing administration burden on the IT staff and backup system.  Also, the chance of a quick restoration of data due to a catastrophic failure or disaster was becoming less likely.
