Cloud Computing Giant Salesforce Acquires Jigsaw

Today, cloud computing giant Salesforce has announced they have entered a definite agreement regarding the acquisition of Jigsaw. Salesforce is the most used, on-demand Customer Relationship Management solutions vendor. Jigsaw is a cloud-based business contact information provider. Jigsaw has yielded large profits by paying outside sources to upload contact information about others, then reselling that information.
The deal was settled for roughly $142 million and is expected to close in the second quarter of 2011. Jigsaw has changed its model since it first opened, now it has a process in which information can be removed, and instead of directly paying for information, Jigsaw gives points to users so that they can, in turn, buy other contacts on the website.
This deal will combine the CRM features and tools of Salesforce, with Jigsaw's automated contact updates. Jigsaw has accumulated the information of 21 million professionals and 4 millions companies. Looking forward, this partnership wont change very much for Jigsaw users, but will offer more features for contact management and data cleansing within Salesforce.
