City of Orlando & Google AppsA big move toward cloud-powered collaboration with The City of Orlando Florida announcing this week it is one of the first cities in the country to move to Google Apps for email and collaboration.

Local governments are reviewing all IT budgets seeking the best ROI for tax-payer dollars. Cloud-computing brings economies of scale and reduced pricing For city officials, it means cutting annual e-mail costs by two-thirds, "saving taxpayers an estimated $262,500 a year" compared to the previous IBM system installed in City Hall.

Cloud computing has huge cost savings in the economic state the world is currently in any saving of tax payers money should be implemented immediately.
